Bhubaneswar: A special team of Red Cross on Thursday inspected the suspected HIV and Hepatitis B infected blood transfusion to two patients of VSS Hospital in Burla.
The team went to Brajrajnagar and tested the blood donors which revealed that their blood does not have any infection of Hepatitis C, informed the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) Blood Bank official, CR Prasad.
Prasad said, the blood sample of the donor did not reveal the presence of Hepatitis C virus.
It is to be noted that two patients admitted at VSS Hospital were given blood on June 10. After conducting Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) test on Wednesday it was found that the blood contained HIV and Hepatitis B virus.
While the news spread like virus and triggered tension in the area a four member committee headed by Pathology Department Head Dr Kailash Agarwal was constituted earlier on the day which will probe the issue and submit the findings within three days, said sources.
